Description

TBM Autoparts Universal Gas Struts deliver smooth, controlled lift support across automotive, marine, industrial, commercial and residential applications. Precision gas-charged and rated in Newtons for accurate force selection, these struts provide consistent linear lifting power to safely raise and hold lids, panels and access doors without sudden drop or slam.

Designed for genuine universal use, they are ideal for 4x4 bonnet upgrades, ute canopies, camper trailer storage compartments, caravan doors, boat hatches, rear drawer systems and toolbox lids. Beyond the automotive space, TBM Autoparts gas struts are widely used in agricultural equipment, machinery guards, electrical enclosures, plant covers, workshop cabinetry, trade vehicle fit-outs and custom fabrication projects. They are equally suited to domestic applications including lift-up storage beds, toy boxes, shed doors and garage storage systems.

Available in multiple extended lengths, stroke measurements and force ratings, these universal gas springs allow precise matching to your application. Selecting the correct specification helps reduce hinge stress, improve safety and ensure long-term reliability. Common eyelet and ball-style mounting configurations support straightforward installation in both new builds and replacement setups.

How to Choose the Correct Universal Gas Strut

If replacing an existing unit, match length, force and connector style wherever possible. For new installations, measure carefully and consider whether the strut will be used individually or as a pair.

  • Extended Length (mm) - Measure centre-to-centre between mounting points when fully open.
  • Stroke (mm) - Ensure sufficient travel so the strut does not bottom out before full opening.
  • Force Rating (N) - Choose a rating suitable for the panel weight. Too low will not hold. Too high may stress hinges.
  • Connector Type and Size - Match both ends to your brackets, such as ball socket (ball size in mm) or eyelet (internal diameter in mm).
