ECU control modules are used to expand the capability of an engine management system. This category includes power distribution modules, CAN expansion modules, keypads, input and output expanders, communication interfaces and other control hardware designed to work alongside an ECU.
The problem they solve is limited inputs, outputs and system control. As builds become more complex, the ECU alone may not have enough capacity to manage all required functions such as additional sensors, auxiliary systems or advanced vehicle controls.
Control modules allow these functions to be added without overloading the ECU, improving system organisation and making the overall setup more scalable. They also simplify wiring and allow more advanced integration of different vehicle systems.
These components are commonly used in higher-end street and motorsport builds where additional control, monitoring and system expansion are required.
