Fuelmiser COS1182 Sensor Exhaust Oxygen (DENSO)
Buy Now, Pay Later
Description
Exhaust oxygen sensors are the last line in the ECU’s array that makes sure it’s supplying the proper amount of fuel to the cylinders. The exhaust oxygen sensor measures the difference in oxygen concentration between exhaust gas and atmospheric air, allowing the ECU to adjust the air/fuel ratio for optimal catalytic converter function. The sensor will also alert the ECU if the catalytic converter is damaged and not working the way it’s supposed to be. On top of being a valuable tool in emissions control, exhaust oxygen sensors are another way for the ECU to find the optimal balance between power, fuel economy, and emissions. They also help the ECU to maintain a steady and efficient air/fuel ratio.
Damage to exhaust oxygen sensors can be caused by a faulty catalytic converter, electrical problems, or even a rear impact that damages the exhaust system. As with many other fuel system and engine sensors, a bad exhaust oxygen sensor can lead to your vehicle running lean or rich. Once a code reader has told you where the problem is you can use Automotive Superstore’s parts finder to track down the perfect part for your car, or let one of our knowledgeable parts experts take care of it for you. We’ll have you up and running again in no time!
