How to Clean and Protect your Dress Trims:

Whilst these wheel trims will provide a bright cosmetic lift to your vehicle/trailer/caravan, they will demand some regular maintenance to keep them looking at their best.

Wheel Trim's worst enemies

Brake dust shed by your vehicle's brake pads/shoes contains metal particles that with heat become highly corrosive. As a result of the amount of brake dust produced by modern brake compounds, frequent cleaning becomes essential. In addition, trims fitted to caravans and/or trailers must avoid immersion or proximity to salt water, again due to the corrosive nature that environment.

We recommend cleaning your wheels and wheel trims before washing your vehicle - this is to prevent brake dust and dirty water from splashing onto an already cleaned car.

  1. Use a dedicated brush and cloth - don't use the same cleaning tools for the rest of your vehicle
  2. Rinse your trims with a strong stream of water to remove any loose dirt/salt/brake dust
  3. Clean each wheel/trim one wheel at a time
  4. If you have access to a non caustic wheel cleaner (one to suit polished/chrome wheels is perfect), spray each wheel and allow to rest for the recommended time. Use a soft brush or cloth with warm soapy water to clean the trims thoroughly - be careful to make sure no dirt grit remains that could act as an abrasive and scratch the trims.
  5. Rinse the wheels/trims thoroughly
  6. Ensure the wheel/trims are dried at the end of the wash process so that no residual water can mark or leave water spots.
  7. Polish and protect with a suitable chrome polish
