Selleys Fibreglass Fix Repair Kit is an impact resistant polyester resin which can withstand water, weather and marine growth. When mixed it is workable for at least 20 minutes and can be sanded and painted when set.

How to use

1. Wear rubber or plastic gloves when handling fibreglass
2. Ensure surfaces are clean and dry. Cut fibreglass mat to shape allowing approximately 3cm overlap all around. Tease fibres along edge of mat to give a feathered edge. For wide holes glue cardboard backing to form a base.
3. For each tablespoon of resin, squeeze 5 drops of hardener from the bottle and mix together thoroughly. Prepare mixture only when required, as it sets in 20 minutes at 20°C.
4. Position mat and apply resin/hardener mixture with a clean, dry brush. Impregnate the mat completely, working out all air bubbles. Add more mat and resin/hardener mixture to build up or contour patch as required.
5. When a patch has completely hardened, (approximatly 1-2 hours, depending on the temperature) it can be sanded to a smooth surface. Fill any imperfections with more resin. If painting, allow to set for 5 hours and sand before painting.
6. Clean up with acetone. Store in a cool dry place.

Limitations

• *Will not bond polyethylene or polypropylene.
• **Not suitable for EPS (polystyrene) foam 

Handy Tips

• At higher temperatures, the working time decreases.
• Can only be tinted with iron oxide or other dry pigment, which must be mixed in very thoroughly.
• Surfaces to be joined should be clean and dry.
• A useful solvent to clean up epoxy and polyester resins BEFORE they are cured can be prepared by mixing 2 parts toluene with 1 part alcohol (eg methylated spirits or denatured alcohol).
• In large amounts heat can be generated during cure. Care should be taken on heat sensitive surfaces with large amounts.
• Use recommended levels of hardener and resin; variation may result in incomplete cure and variations in cure time.
• Keep Selleys Sugar Soap Wipes nearby for quick and effective cleanup.

Clean up

• Uncured product may be removed with acetone.
• Cured product can be sanded and filed.
