The Hyundai Coupe, sold in many markets as the Tiburon, gave Hyundai a genuine sporty halo car long before the brand became known for performance badges like N. Launched in the late 1990s and evolving through the sleek GK generation, it paired sharp two door styling with approachable running costs, making it popular with drivers who wanted coupe character without European coupe expense. Depending on model, buyers found eager four cylinder engines or the smoother 2.7 litre V6, plus manual transmissions, supportive seats, a low driving position and a practical liftback tailgate that made weekend use easier than its rakish profile suggested.

Part of the Coupe’s charm is its cult status. The Tiburon name means shark in Spanish, a nod to its pointed nose and flowing roofline, while its affordability made it a favourite among young enthusiasts, modifiers and video game fans in the early 2000s tuning scene. Today, tidy examples are appreciated for their distinctive looks and simple mechanical layout, and they respond well to quality maintenance, suspension refreshes, brake upgrades, performance filters, lighting improvements and tasteful interior accessories.
